We are living amidst difficult times. Here's wishing everyone a happy, peace filled and better year.

ps: thats 'Flowers for New Year', an oil on canvas by the famous Vietnamese artist, Ha Huynh My. i would like to put it on the wall of my living room.

Indeed, difficult times behind us. Challenges lay ahead. I wish us all the energy, intelligence and optimism to discover our potential.

Meraj, tere mooh mein ghee shakkar!

for those who need an interpretation:

Translated that means "may your words come true"

translitterated that means "may your mouth be filled with all things sweet (ghee and sugar)"

2008 was a great year - it was personally one of my best, doubt very much if 2009 will top it, but hope it does:-)

NEW YEARS GREETINGS HAVE BECOME JUST A RITUALS FOR MANY AND A MEANS TO CELEBRATE AND MERRY MAKING.I DONOT ADD ANY IMPORTANCE TO THIS DAY ALL DAYS ARE EQUALLY GOOD IF YOU ARE SARISFIED WITH YOUR PRESEN SITUATION

ilegirl,
thanks for adding to my hopes.

Saman,
the girl indeed looks like Pooja

Pooja,
like the usage of this phrase and its explanation

smiling one,
personally speaking, 2008 was a great year for me as well. but the many severe situations in the world, from economic to political, to terrorism troubles me and makes me wish for a world without all this.

Masroor,
unfortunately the painting has already been sold. why dont you paint it for me and bring it with you next time. would love to put it up on my wall.

also, fundamentally i agree with you on what you say about New year and other such days. but, sometimes its good to use such days to take a stock of things, to wish for a better tomorrow, to catch up with friends, to have a healthy conversation, to feel good about ourselves.

sometimes, certain rituals are good!

meraj,
I agree that rituals some time make you refresh although for a time being but still it gives you energy.in that sense a new year festivity is a process of rejuvanition

on the contrary meraj, it's adversity that brings out the best in everyone, not fortune.

smiling one,
adversity does bring out the best in some but not everyone.

pooja,
perhaps the girl is writing a new year wish on the wall :)

ALien,
thanks for dropping by and hope all is going great at your end.
